Wednesday, September 16, 2026 is a minimum day for all students. Students in grades Tk-3rd release at 1:00pm. Students in grades 4-8th release at 1:30pm.

Please join us for the Bike Rodeo on Thursday, September 17th form 3pm-4pm. Students are invited to participate in a Bike Rodeo, an event designed to promote bicycle safety and develop riding skills through a fun obstacle course. Those who complete all of the tasks will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing to win a new Razor Scooter & Helmet! A nutritious snack will be provided for all participants. Students must bring their helmet and signed permission slip in order to participate.

TWO SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL OPENINGS
We currently have TWO parent openings on the School Site Council. Meetings are held quarterly, on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30am. If you are interested in serving on the School Site Council, please inform the office staff by Friday, August 28th. There are always an equal number of parents and staff members since this is required by law. Although only site council members may vote, the meetings are open to the public. Attending site council meetings is a great way to learn about school programs and increase parent involvement. The next School Site Council meeting will be held September 3, 2026.

Lucerne Elementary School is looking for our next team member. We have an opening for a bus driver. If you are not qualified we can train you with our Bus Driver in training position. You can find the job posted on our website or on Indeed.
Online Student Registration is NOW AVAILABLE for the 2026/2027 school year. Parents who have an existing Schoolwise parent portal account can read and complete the first day registration packets online and update student medical information, addresses, telephone numbers, and emergency contacts. All 2026/2027 registrations must be completed online by August 10th at 12:00pm or students will not be enrolled in a class to start the first day of school. Computers are available in the school office to complete online registrations. Registration portal accounts may be accessed using a computer or cell phone. at https://lucerne.schoolwise.com/ If you need assistance setting up a NEW account, please call or stop by the school office. The office is closed the month of July, so stop by the office if you need assistance on or before June 30th. The office will open again on August 3rd. Have a safe and fun summer!

Esta mañana, varias escuelas secundarias de la zona recibieron amenazas de bomba. Los distritos escolares locales trabajaron en estrecha colaboración con la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake para evaluar la situación y determinar el riesgo potencial. Como medida de extrema precaución, la Oficina del Sheriff ordenó el cierre de todas las escuelas de la zona. Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and flexibility during today’s school evacuation and closure. I would like to provide additional clarification regarding the situation and the reason for the closure.
This morning, several high schools in the area received bomb threats. Local school districts worked closely with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to assess the situation and evaluate the potential risk. Out of an abundance of caution, the Sheriff’s Office advised all area schools to close. Lucerne Elementary followed that directive to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
While it is unfortunate that schools must respond to emergency situations such as this, I want to express my sincere appreciation to our families for remaining calm and cooperative throughout the process. The safety of our students and staff will always remain our highest priority.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind families to keep all contact information and emergency release information current with the school office. During an emergency, students will only be released to individuals listed on the student’s authorized emergency contact list. For safety reasons, we cannot accept phone calls authorizing additional individuals for student pickup during an active emergency situation.
Please also understand that during emergencies, our office staff must prioritize emergency communication and response procedures and may not be available to answer individual questions or requests.

LUCERNE SCHOOL FALL CARNIVAL
The Lucerne Student Council will help host the 2025 Fall Carnival on Thursday, October 30th from 6:00-8:00pm., in the gym. Come out and join us for exciting carnival games and fun prizes! A Halloween costume contest will be held at 7:15pm. Admission is $2 per person or $10 per family maximum. Admission is free for children ages 0-2 years old.

Parent/Teacher conference week is scheduled for November 3rd - November 7th. Students will be on a minimum day schedule all week. Students in grades tk-3rd release at 1:00pm. Students in grades 4th-8th release at 1:30pm.
On Tuesday, October 28th, school bus service will not be available. Please make transportation arrangements for your students to and from school on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Regular bus service will resume on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
