Understanding Bullying

These actions can take various forms, including physical, verbal, social, or online harassment. Bullying is not just a part of growing up, and it should never be ignored. We take any instances of bullying very seriously and address them promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.

What Bullying Is Not

It's important to differentiate between bullying and common personal conflicts that may arise during childhood. Not all disagreements and conflicts qualify as bullying. Ordinary conflicts and disagreements are part of human interaction and can be valuable learning experiences. They help children develop conflict resolution skills, empathy, and resilience. Bullying, on the other hand, is characterized by a power imbalance and a repetitive nature, making it a severe concern that requires immediate attention.

Teaching Resiliency

We understand that personal conflicts are inevitable, and teaching our children to navigate these challenges is an essential part of their development. Learning how to resolve conflicts and work through personal issues builds resiliency and equips our children with valuable life skills. It's crucial to support our students in developing the ability to communicate effectively, understand different perspectives, and manage their emotions.

Here at Lucerne Elementary School, we incorporate anti-bullying education and conflict resolution skills into our curriculum. We encourage open communication between students, teachers, and families.
